Entorno CIT and Oriente Magico

Two versions of the same platform

Entorno CIT is a travel operator in Mexico. Oriente Magico Travels is one of its franchises, registered in Canada and focused on the Middle East. Both platforms came from the same Laravel, Blade, and Vue template, but separate teams had developed them in parallel.

Untangling the code

By the time I took over, the two codebases solved the same problems in different and sometimes conflicting ways. Features had been duplicated, abandoned halfway through, or connected differently in each version. I spent the first few days tracing those paths, cleaning up the structure, and deciding which implementations were safe to keep.

Learning while shipping

I had not worked with PHP, Laravel, or Vue before. I got productive in the stack quickly by following the existing code and testing how the pieces behaved together. Once the structure made sense, I shipped the requested features across both platforms.

A deliberate compromise

The codebases had drifted too far apart to merge safely within the project's schedule. Some features had to be implemented twice. Keeping them separate was less elegant, but it avoided a risky rewrite while the operators were actively using the systems.
